Peters, Wilkerson named volleyball captains
Posted: Mon Aug 25, 2008 7:29 pmDALLAS (SMU) --- The SMU volleyball team named senior Natalie Peters and sophomore Kathryn Wilkerson as team captains on Monday, announced head coach Lisa Seifert. The selections were made via a team vote held over the weekend. Wilkerson was a 2007 C-USA All-Freshman selection after leading the team with 378 kills. Peters enters the season third on SMU’s career blocks list (382) and has the most blocks per set (1.19) in school history.
Head coach Lisa Seifert and the Mustangs open the 2008 season against Baylor at the Baylor Invitational on Aug. 29. The home-opener is against UT-Arlington on Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. The Mustangs also host SMU Radisson Invitational with Montana, New Orleans, and Stephen F. Austin on Sept. 5 and 6 at Moody Coliseum. The Ponies open Conference USA action at home against Tulsa on Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. The C-USA Championship is Nov. 20-23 in Memphis.
