Freshmen Lead SMU Women's Soccer to Win At Houston

HOUSTON (SMU) - Freshmen Logan May and Devon Herrman scored for the Mustangs, and freshman goalkeeper Courtney Webb picked up her second career victory to lead the SMU women's soccer team to a 2-1 road victory over Conference USA foe Houston.
The Mustangs, who improved to 4-7-1 overall and 2-2-0 in C-USA games, fell behind just before halftime when UH got a goal from Islara Rodriguez. But after the intermission, it was all SMU.
The Mustangs got the equalizer in the 49th minute when May collected a pass from freshman midfielder Kaitlyn Eidson and beat UH netminder Shelby Scott for her second goal of the season.
Herrman then put the Ponies ahead to stay in the 69th minute with an unassisted goal, her second of the season. She had a shot saved by Scott but buried the rebound, giving the Ponies the lead they never would relinquish.
The Mustangs have two more road games next weekend - at Marshall Friday and at East Carolina Sunday - before returning home to face Memphis at 7 p.m., Oct. 17 and UAB at 1 p.m., Oct. 19.
