Freshman Mustang Marta Lesniak was named Conference USA Player of the Week for helping No. 69 SMU (13-2, 3-0) triumph over No. 17 Arkansas, picking up the first singles and doubles wins of her collegiate career over nationally-ranked opponents.

In doubles, she paired with fellow newcomer Aleksandra Malyarschikova at the No. 1 spot to down the No. 12 tandem of Airapetian/Tigu in a hard fought tiebreaker (9-7) to help SMU sweep the double point. Then in singles, Lesniak mounted a major comeback to defeat No. 4 Aurelija Miseviciute (1-6, 7-5, 7-6) to propel her team to the historic win.

The Mustangs are now 13-2 on the season. The weekly honor is the first for Lesniak.

Mustangs go after their third ranked team in a row Sunday against Yale. First serve is 10:00 with a men's match following. The ladies then play LaTech later in the day@ 4:00pm. Ought to be a great tailgating opportunity.

Four consecutive Player of the Week awards?
That's pretty amazing when you think about it, especially at a school that's not really known as a tennis powerhouse.
Congratulations to coach and team alike.
