SMU Men Rout Central Arkansas In Exhibition Finale
Men to open season on Sept. 4 against No. 3 Akron

DALLAS (SMU) - SMU rolled to a 7-1 exhibition win over Central Arkansas, completing a 2-0-0 preseason, as they made final preparations for the regular season. SMU All-America Paulo da Silva registered two goals and an assist, and Arthur Ivo also picked up a pair of goals for the Mustangs.
The Mustangs registered the first strike in the 23rd minute when Brandon Pfluger capitalized on a rebound, with help from Paulo da Silva and Kekoa Osorio. Arthur Ivo connected on a penalty in the 38th minute to give SMU a 2-0 lead entering the break.
Arthur Ivo opened the second half scoring with a second goal only two minutes into the half.Paulo da Silva then tacked on two tallies during a span of two minutes for the Mustangs quickly thereafter, putting away a 14 yard shot in the 50th minute, then scoring SMU's fifth goal in the 52nd. Dane Saintus added SMU's sixth goal in the 68th minute by firing a long range shot past the Central Arkansas keeper. Diogo de Almeida sent a shot into the mixer during the 73rd minute which gave the Mustangs their seventh and final goal.
Craig Hill did not allow a goal in 57 minutes of playing time, giving him a total of 102 minutes played without allowing a goal during the preseason.
Alex Parker put in Central Arkansas' only goal in the 78th minute, sending in a long range shot.
"I thought it was a great game for us," said SMU head coach Tim McClements. "Central Arkansas is a hard-working team, they play clean. But it's still just a preseason game, nothing more, nothing less."
SMU will open their regular season on Friday, Sept. 4 against No. 3 Akron in the Raddison Tulsa Airport Classic.
