Women's Soccer Runs Past UTSA 4-2
Four goals by four players lift Mustangs

Sept. 18, 2009

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (SMU) - SMU received goals from four different players as they defeated UTSA 4-2. The Mustangs scored three times in a ten minute span in the second half to pull away for the victory. SMU improves to 2-4 on the season, and UTSA falls to 3-5.

The Mustangs scored the only goal of the first half when Logan May connected on a 23rd minute strike for her second goal of the season. In the 62nd minute, Leslie Briggs added her third goal of the season, with an assist from Kristin Medeiros, to give the Mustangs a 2-0 advantage. Katie Dugan quickly added a tally for UTSA in the 63rd minute, but the Mustangs responded in the 65th when Kenzie Scovill added her third goal of the season.

Shelby Hartweck scored the first goal of her career in the 69th minute to give SMU a three goal lead. Halee Hamm scored in the 72nd minute for UTSA for the final 4-2 margin of victory.

SMU returns to Westcott Field on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 1:30 p.m. to take on No. 2 Portland.
