Kendra Kahanek Named C-USA Defensive Player Of The Week
Mustang Middle Blocker Earns Second Award Of Career

IRVING, Texas (SMU) - Kendra Kahanek was named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week after leading the conference with a week-high 10 blocks against Houston Friday night.
The senior from Houston led the Mustangs to a 1-1 record this week, sweeping Houston and falling 3-1 at Rice. She was involved in 13 of the team's 23 total blocks this week, recording two solo blocks and 11 block assists. Kahanek also added 21 kills, two aces and seven digs in the two matches.
Kahanek is currently second in the league with 1.14 blocks per set, and leads the team with a .277 hitting percentage. She is third on the team with 2.53 kills per set, and has 92 total blocks this season.
The award was the first of the season for the SMU middle blocker and second of her career. The Mustangs have earned four Player of the Week awards this season and have earned 13 C-USA Player of the Week awards since joining the conference in 2005.
Kahanek will lead the Mustangs this weekend when they host UAB Friday at 7 p.m. and Memphis Saturday at 7 p.m.
