Ryan Rosenbaum Named NSCAA National Player Of The Week
95-yard Goal Earns Freshman National

Oct. 30, 2009

DALLAS (SMU) - The accolades keep pouring in for Freshman Ryan Rosenbaum as he was was named NSCAA National Player of the Week for his game-winning goal at No. 16 Tulsa on Wednesday, October 21. Rosenbaum scored in the 63rd minute from 95 yards out for SMU's third goal in the 3-2 victory.

Rosenbaum's goal was the No. 2 play on ESPN's SportsCenter on Thursday night, and received coverage from many national outlets, including ABC Morning News, the Dallas Morning News, Yahoo!, Deadspin, and The Big Lead. Not only was the goal Rosenbaum's first of his career, it came on his first career shot. Rosenbaum was already awarded C-USA Offensive Player of the Week honors for his goal. Rosenbaum recorded his first career assist in his first career game on Sept. 30 against Centenary.

Rosenbaum and the Mustangs return to Westcott Field on Saturday, October 31, at 7 p.m. to take on UCF.

Not sure a single goal makes him a national player of the year, but that was the coolest goal I've ever seen. Congratulations, Ryan!
