W-Tennis Signee Charlotte Calhoun Wins Cotton Bowl Classic T

Calhoun is second-straight SMU signee to win event
SMU signee Charlotte Calhoun of Highland Park recently won the girl's 18's draw at the 2009 MCB Cotton Bowl Classic. The senior at nearby Highland Park High School dominated her competition, dropping just seven games the entire tournament on her way to the title.
Calhoun began with a 6-1, 6-0 victory in the quarterfinal round and followed that with a strong 6-0, 6-3 win in the semifinals. In the finals, Calhoun rolled again behind her aggressive and hard-hitting play, winning 6-2, 6-1.
She has been ranked as high as No. 2 in Texas and No. 45 in the nation. Her highest International Tennis Federation ranking is 303.
A five-time doubles finalist in ITF competition, she took first place in doubles at the 2009 International Cup in La Libertad, El Salvador. She was also a singles semi-finalist at La Libertad.
Calhoun is the team captain for the Highland Park tennis team where she helped the team to three UIL Texas 4A State Championships; claiming the 2006, 2008, and 2009 titles. She has also been a UIL Texas 4A State Singles Finalist.
