SMU's Simoné du Toit Wins Shot Put On Final Day Of C-USA Track & Field Indoor Championships
HOUSTON (SMU) – Simone du Toit earned an NCAA Provisional mark in the shot put with a throw of 16.55m, good for first place, as the SMU track & field team completed the Conference USA Indoor Championships, Saturday at Yeoman Fieldhouse on the University of Houston Campus. The team totaled 36 points to finish in eighth place overall.
Two weeks after finishing first at the Iowa State Classic, Victoria Leks posted another good finish in the high jump as her mark of 1.70m earned her a seventh place finish.
Kristine Eikrem-Engeset finished in the top-10 in the 1 Mile Run, with a time of 4:54.37, good for eighth out of 29 competitors. It was the second top-10 of the day for her, as she also placed ninth in the 3000 meter run, finishing in 9:56.18. Amber Evans also earned a top-10 finish, placing ninth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 57.41.
The Mustang 4x400 medley relay team closed the championships with a seventh place finish, needing just 3:52.39 to cross the finish line.
