SMU’s Simoné du Toit Wins Discus Throw At Texas Relays

AUSTIN (SMU) – SMU track & field athlete Simoné du Toit won the discus throw Friday at the Texas Relays located at Mike Meyers Stadium on the University of Texas Campus. du Toit won the event with a throw of 53.61m.

du Toit’s throw moved her into third in the NCAA season standings, in the discus event, surpassing her previous season-best of 51.13m, accomplished last week at the Bobby Lane Invitational.

Also competing for the Mustangs on Friday was Victoria Leks, who finished fifth in the high jump with a mark of 1.71m. The mark was an outdoor season-best, three hundreths of a meter better than her performance a week ago in Arlington when she won the event at the Bobby Lane Invitational.

The Texas Relays will continue through Saturday, with full results available on smumustangs.com following the competition.

That's fantastic! Winning any event at a meet of that size, and with the caliber of talent that competes in it, is a huge accomplishment.
Congratulations.
