CHICAGO (SMU) - SMU incoming freshman Courtney Smith is one of 24 women's soccer players who have been invited by the United States U-18 Women's National Team Head Coach Dave Chesler to a training camp at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. from April 10-17.

All of the players in with the U-18s are age-eligible to compete in the 2010 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup and will be trying to make an impact on the U-20 coaching staff with the possibility of an invite into events before U-20 head coach Jill Ellis chooses her squad for the U-20 WWC in Germany. The U.S. U-18s will face UC Irvine, the U.S. U-20s and a W-League team during camp.

Smith is a defender from Plano, Texas, who attends Plano West High School. She was also a member of the Olympic Development Program Under-18 National Team, and played in Olympic Development tournaments in Costa Rica, Italy, and Portugal. She plays club for the Dallas Texans, who won the 2008 USYS Under-16 National Championship. Also an all-around athlete, she was a first-team All-District selection as a basketball player at Plano West High School.

would be good for the program to have one of our women's soccer players back on a national team. It has been awhile.

Who else have we had on the National Team? I know Danielle Garrett/Fotopolous made it, but she already had transferred to Florida by the time she made it. Lisa Cole didn't make it. Kara Lee?

Good luck, Courtney!

Talking about one of the age group national teams, not the main team. I recall we have had some players on these kinds of teams in the past but cannot remember names.

The lady aggies kicked-a$$ 4-1 but of course no one wants to address our coaching/performance problems. Looks like a continuation of poor performance/substandard coaching/and bottom feeding in the conference.

The men's team had the 7th ranked recruiting class this year. Any bets if they will make the top 16 at the NCAA tournament?
We are bragging that we had a recruit get invited to the U-18 camp. 3 aggie players were invited to the U-23 National team camp.

Things won't change until we have a new AD- the current one refuses to admit his coaching mistakes in w-soccer, m-soccer and even worse in bball (what a wonderful way to pi$$ away another 1-2 million dollars).

GO PONIES!!! (at least our fball team is no longer an embarrassment)

Well it also doesn't help that our second leading scorer (one of only 4 juniors) quit the team. We also have only one goalie (both freshmen have left and the junior quit before last season) and she's not 100%.

So you're bent that we lost — after losing one of our top scorers and with no healthy goalies — to a team that finished No. 13 in the country?

Don't know, but we'll be better this year, and I'll be there supporting them.

Congratulations. Go find an Aggie board.

Everytime I go here to the Other Sports area, Redpony is always badmouthing the AD...nothing constructive to say and with the #7 recruiting class...why wouldn't he bust down and say something nice, like good progress? .....and we get a recruit invited to a National squad and he mentions the Aggies$?....C'mon get over it.....Someone bitter down in Peru...
