Lauren Kuhner Leads SMU Track And Field At North Texas Spring Classic
DENTON (SMU) – SMU women’s track and field athlete Lauren Kuhner won the hammer throw competition as part of the North Texas Spring Classic held this weekend at Fouts Field on the University of North Texas campus. Her throw of 54.60m, was tops by 1.5 meters over the next closest competitor.
Amber Evans had a good showing for the Mustangs, earning two top-ten finishes in the 100 and 200 meter dash. She tied for seventh in the 100 meter with a season-best time of 11.87 seconds and was sixth in the 200, clocking in at 24.05 seconds.
Monika Korra came in fifth during the 3000 meter run, crossing the finish line at 10:31.96.
Aasha Marietta and Kathleen Hoogland each also placed in the top-ten during the 1500 meter run. Marietta was eighth, coming in at 4:57.93 while Hoogland was ninth, finishing in 4:59.05.
As a team, SMU placed third in the 4x400 meter relay, coming in at 3:52.33. Comprising the team were Evans, Ebony Cuington, LaKeisha James and Chelsea Wells.
The Mustangs will be back in action on April 15 at the Mt. SAC Relays.
