SMU’s Darren Walsh Named To 2010 Conference USA Men’s Tennis All-Academic Team
IRVING, Texas (SMU) – SMU men’s tennis player Darren Walsh was one of six men’s tennis student-athletes named to the 2010 Conference USA All-Academic Team, as announced by the league office today and voted on by the league’s Sports Information Directors for Men’s Tennis.
Walsh sports a 3.95 GPA as an engineer and has won a team-best ten straight singles matches. The Croydon, England native teams with Adham El-Effendi to form the No. 29 doubles team in the ITA. Walsh is also a past C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll and C-USA Academic Medalist selection.
The All-Academic team consists of student-athletes who have earned a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or better and are a regular participant on their team. All six members of this year’s squad are also C-USA Academic Medalists, sporting a 3.75 GPA or better.
SMU will return to action this weekend in Houston at the 2010 C-USA Men’s Tennis Championship, hosted by Rice from April 22-25 at the Jake Hess Tennis Center.
