This is fantastic.
Another clean sheet for Courtney Webb!
Based on the stats, it looks like Lauren Shepherd was dominant (as usual).

SMU W-Soccer Beats New Mexico 1-0
Junior Logan May Scores Game-winner
Sept. 12, 2010
Box Score vs. New Mexico
DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU women's soccer defeated New Mexico 1-0 Sunday afternoon at Westcott Field. Junior Logan May scored for the Mustangs.
"It was very, very good especially after losing a heartbreaker on Friday night," said head coach Brent Erwin of the team's play. "I told the team, `Good teams come back and win this game today.' We did it, and we played very well doing it."
May headed in the game-winner in the 78th minute off a cross from Lauren Shepherd. It was May's first goal of the season.
Goalkeeper Courtney Webb picked up her fourth shutout of the year, making three saves on the afternoon. Webb now holds a 0.69 goals-against average on the season.
Before May's goal, SMU came close to scoring on a number of chances. Allegra Nigh and Jessica Bartol both hit the crossbar, and Ryanne Lewis fired a shot off the post.
The Mustangs handed the Lobos their first loss of the season. SMU moves to 4-2-1 on the year, and New Mexico is now 4-1-3.
SMU will head to Denton Sept. 17 to take on North Texas at 7 p.m. The Mean Green are 5-2-1, losing 1-0 in double overtime at Sam Houston State and 1-0 at Texas Tech.

And yes, Lauren Shepherd played an outstanding game — she had a lot of runs into the offensive end, made a few defenders look silly trying to hang with her, set up several scoring chances, firing six shots (as a defender!) including one off the crossbar, and played solid defense .... all while not sitting out a minute in what felt like 622 degrees.
But she was far from the only player who had a good day. The defensive unit of Shepherd, Katherine Cox, Kaitlyn Eidson and Courtney Smith was solid — Webb was only really challenged once or twice. Kristin Medeiros was everywhere in the midfield. Ryanne Lewis had a number of scoring chances, firing three shots including at least one that hit the pipe. Amanday Burgardt also created some chances, and I think she was the other player who had a shot that hit the crossbar.

I don't know that I'm ready to call us a top-25 team yet, but we sure look a lot better than the last couple of years. Keep it up, Mustangs!
