M-Soccer Ranked No. 18 in NSCAA Poll

Sept. 14, 2010

DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU men's soccer team is ranked 18th in this week's NSCAA/HendrickCars.com National Rankings. The Mustangs are 5-0-0 on the season and rank third in the Midwest Region, trailing only No 3. Tulsa and No. 16 Creighton.

Last weekend, SMU went 2-0-0 in the Hurricane Classic in Tulsa, Okla. The Mustangs opened the tournament by defeating SIU-Edwardsville 1-0 Friday night. Juan Castillo, reigning Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week, scored the game-winner in the 84th minute. Goalkeeper Craig Hill made three saves to collect his second shutout of the season.

The Ponies then downed Western Illinois 2-1 Sunday afternoon. Josue Soto opened the scoring early, converting a penalty kick in just the second minute of play. Castillo added the eventual game-winner in the 47th minute for the Mustangs.

The Mustangs head to Peoria, Ill., to compete in the Bradley Tournament this weekend. SMU meets No. 16 Creighton on Friday night at 5 p.m. before facing Bradley on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.

WOW!

I figured they would wait until after the Creighton game to see how that goes, but this is awesome.

Let's hope we win both games there. Then we'll start to look like the Mustangs of old.

What time do the polls come out on Tuesday? I can't wait to see how far up the poll we have climbed this week with our huge wins.
