Re: New Rankingawesome. best record of anyone.
Re: New RankingWe play in what I believe is the third best soccer conference in the US (behind the ACC and BE). We have to come ready to play every game. If we do SMU soccer will again be feared. We are not good enough, yet, to run the table. My hope is that we grow each game and by the end of the season, do what we did the year we had to win out to make the NCAA and then made it to the final four. This is still a pretty young team in many ways. Let's hope that they simply improve and learn game to game.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: New RankingI'm very happy to be back in the top 10!!!
Re: New Ranking
I don't think being #11 puts us in the top 10 ![]() Glad this team is finding its legs and lets hope it continues. GO PONIES!!! MUSTANG MANIA LIVES ![]() ![]()
Re: New Ranking
We are actually ranked #9 in the NSCAA national poll that was released a couple of hours ago
Re: New RankingGood- my response was based on the hot-link to the soccertimes-ncaa rankings posted in the first message. In that case only 8 more places to move up- then #1.

Re: New Ranking
The NSCAA is the poll that coaches respect, and equally importantly, it's the poll the NCAA considers at the end of the season. Here's the official release from SMUMustangs.com: M-Soccer Ranked No. 9 In NSCAA Poll Sept. 21, 2010 DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU men's soccer team is ranked ninth in this week's NSCAA/HendrickCars.com National Rankings. The Mustangs are 7-0-0 on the season and trail only No. 2 Tulsa in the regional rankings. Last weekend, SMU picked up two come-from-behind wins to win the Bradley Tournament in Peoria, Ill. SMU defeated No. 16 Creighton 3-2 in double-overtime Sept. 17. After falling behind 2-0, Juan Castillo, reigning C-USA Player of the Week, started the Mustang rally with a breakaway in the 69th minute. Junior Arthur Ivo then converted to penalty kicks, including one in double-overtime, to earn the win. On Sunday, Castillo once again started the SMU comeback as the Mustangs downed Bradley 3-1. Castillo got the Mustangs on the board in the 40th minute before assisting on the game-winner. Fellow freshman Robbie Derschang netted two goals, one in the 84th minute and another in the 87th minute, to win the game for the Mustangs. SMU heads to the UAB Tournament in Birmingham, Ala., Sept. 24-26. The Mustangs open conference play Friday, Sept. 24 against UAB. SMU faces Jacksonville Sunday, Sept. 26. PonyFans.com ... is really the premier place for Mustang talk on the Web.

Re: New RankingTop 10, and the "official" SMU online store sells freaking SMU rowing t-shirts but no SMU Soccer t-shirts.
Shake It Off Moody
Re: New RankingPersonally, I wish we weren't ranked that high this early. We have a young team and haven't played a lot of great opponents yet — I'd rather see a more gradual climb while the young guys mature.
That said .... congratulations, Ponies. Kick some tail this weekend. "Mass genocide is the most exhausting activity one can engage in .... next to soccer."
