Lesniak Won The Singles A Tournament At The OU Fall Invitational

IRVING, Texas (SMU/C-USA) - SMU junior Marta Lesniak was selected as September's Conference USA Tennis Athlete of the Month. Lesniak won the Singles A tournament at the OU Fall Invitational and also went undefeated in the Doubles A bracket in the first month of play.

Lesniak, the No. 22-ranked singles player in the country, won the Singles A tournament at the OU Fall Invitational in her only event of the month. She went 4-0 en route to the title, winning in straight sets each time over individuals from some of the nation's top programs. In the final match of the tournament, Lesniak downed No. 36 Luftiana Budiharto (Wichita State) by a 6-1, 6-3 count. During her run to the title, she won 48 games while dropping a mere 10. Her first sets were even more impressive with a 24-2 margin. In doubles action, Lesniak teamed with Heather Steinbauer, forming the No. 47 pair, and went undefeated in the Doubles A bracket at the OU Fall Invitational, winning 24 of 37 total games. Lesniak earns her second Athlete of the Month honor of her career (October 2009).
