IRVING, Texas (SMU) - SMU women's soccer player Kaitlyn Eidson was named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week. The junior defender netted three of the team's four goals, including two game-winners, to help the Mustangs defeat UTEP and Colorado College over the weekend. With the victories, SMU moves to 9-4-2 on the season and 4-2-0 in C-USA action.

Eidson scored the lone goal in a 1-0 shutout win over UTEP when she headed in a goal in just the ninth minute of play on a cross from defender Courtney Smith. Eidson then added two more goals Sunday in a 3-1 win over Colorado College. The first goal came just 1:20 into the game, while the other came in the 72nd minute. Both goals were headers off corner kicks.

Eidson is in the middle of a three-game goal streak (4 goals) and has scored the game winner in each of the past three contests for SMU. Eidson has taken just five shots on the season, four of which have been on frame. She leads the team in goals (4), points (8) and game-winning goals (3).

A preseason all-conference selection, this is Eidson's first C-USA Player of the Week honor.

SMU hosts conference rival UAB Friday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. at Westcott Field. The Mustangs hold a slight 3-2-0 lead in the all-time series against the Blazers. Purchase your tickets online at smumustangs.com or call 214-SMU-GAME.
