Three first half goals give the Mustangs their fifth consecutive win

DALLAS (SMU) --- The SMU women's soccer team defeated UAB 3-1 at Westcott Field on Friday night. Kaitlyn Eidson, Kristin Medeiros and Ryanne Lewis each scored a goal for the Mustangs.

With the win, SMU moves to 10-4-2 on the season and 5-2 in C-USA action. The Mustangs have now won five consecutive games.

Eidson scored her fifth goal of the season in the seventh minute by finishing a deflection off of a UAB defender to put the Mustangs up 1-0.

Medeiros followed in the 33rd minute by heading in a cross from teammate Ryanne Lewis to score her second goal of the year.

Lewis added insurance for the Mustangs with her goal in the 44th minute. The sophomore finished a cross from just outside of the goal box to give SMU a 3-0 lead before the half.

UAB's lone goal came in the 90th minute, when Tiffini Turpin finished a breakaway by SMU's Courtney Webb, who had previously shut out her last three opponents.

Congratulations to the women for a great win making it 5 straight. They've done a great job of figuring out how to win despite all the injuries that have plagued the team. Beat Memphis!

It was a very solid game across the board. It's a shame the end got so rag tag and we conceded a goal, but oh well.

I was bit upset the team did not let us know they would wear red ahead of time so we could stage a red out.

Gee- what a novel idea -figuring out how to win despite the injuries. When those injuries happened I stated that the coaching staff should, could and probably would adjust their strategies and game plans to fit the available talent. At that time there were many who 'trashed' me and that idea. Some even made inane comparisons with possible injury situations with the Cowboys.
Anyway- congrats ladies- your playing well. Please continue- the top 25 is a distinct possibility.

GO PONIES!!!

I wasn't one of the people trashing you but I don't like but I don’t like revisionist history either. Maybe you don’t remember why you were being trashed......

You actually said “Too bad about the injuries. However, good coaches find a way to win with the talent available” and “A good coach adjusts his strategy and game plan to fit the personnel he has so that he is in a position to win the game. He finds a way to win.” I can’t find anywhere that you stated “that the coaching staff should, could and probably would adjust their strategies and game plans to fit the available talent” as you claim in the post above.

You were trashed at the time you made those comments because of your insinuation that the current coaching staff was not capable of adjusting to the injury situation and continuing what people perceive as negative posts reference the current coaches.

You ended your post with “As stated before, I have no vendetta against any of our coaches. I just will not accept previously successful programs falling to the bottom without any changes being made to correct the situation.” Which sounds to me like you didn’t have confidence in the direction the soccer team was headed or the ability of the coaches to adjust to the injuries that were occurring on the field.
