Tim McClements Named Midwest Regional Coach of the Year

Dec. 10, 2010

DALLAS (SMU) - SMU men's soccer head coach Tim McClements has been named the NSCAA/MONDO Midwest Regional Coach of the Year. Last month, he was named the Conference USA Coach of the Year.

McClements, in his third season as head coach, guided SMU to a 16-2-2 record, a No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament and a Conference USA Regular Season title. The Mustangs advanced to the Elite Eight, where SMU tied North Carolina 1-1 but was eliminated on penalty kicks.

The Regional Coaches of the Year will be joined on the ballot for the National Coach of the Year by coaches from each of the four national championship semifinal teams. Winners of the national award will be announced at the annual NSCAA Awards Banquet, which will be held Friday, Jan. 14.
