Equestrian Topped By No. 5 Baylor

As reported on the offical SMU athletics web site:
DALLAS, Texas (SMU) --- The SMU equestrian team fell to No. 5 Baylor, 6-3, today at Buck Branch. The Mustangs notched three points over fences with Jordyn Pettersen earning MVP honors.
"We are very proud of our fences riders for some tremendous rides against Baylor," SMU head coach Haley Schoolfield said. "It's also great to see Jordyn Pettersen continue her stellar season. Our flat riders fought hard against the very strong Baylor team, but small mistakes cost the points. We will learn from this and make some adjustments as we prepare to take on OSU tomorrow."
In addition to Pettersen, who notched a 73, Marissa Djernes and Julianna Fischer each earned points for SMU over fences. Djernes posted an 82 and Fischer tallied a 72. The Mustangs won the event 3-1 with a 380 to 369 overall score.
Despite falling to the Bears, 6-3, the Mustangs were competitive and only trailed nationally-ranked Baylor 726-721 in the overall score.
Tomorrow the Mustangs return to Buck Branch to face No. 4 Oklahoma State at 10 a.m.
