Track Dominates Throws At Bobby Lane Invitational

ARLINGTON, Texas (SMU) --- The SMU track and field team continued its strong throwing and overall performance during this weekend at the Bobby Lane Invitational hosted by UT-Arlington. The Mustangs posted the highest marks for collegiate competitors in three of the throwing events and finished third overall in the team rankings for the 19-event competition.
Simone Du Toit once again impressed with top collegiate marks in the shot put and discus throws posting 16.64m and 58.81m spots in the respectively in the events. Ayla Gill joined du Toit in the winner's circle with a 53.17m winning hammer throw.
Viktoria Leks again notched a win in the high jump. The junior posted a 1.75 meter leap, which ties a season-high, to take the event. Teammate Lisa Egarter followed with a 1.70 meter mark and placed third.
Both Lovisa Lindh (4:33.07) and Klara Bodinson (4:33.61) each posted season-best times in the 1500 meter run to take second and third place respectively. In the 3000 meter steeplechase, Monika Korra placed second with a 13:11.23 finishing time. Amber Evans also recorded a season-best with a 54.23 run in the 400 meter dash.
SMU will next compete in the Texas Relays April 6-9 in Austin, Texas. The event is hosted by the University of Texas.
