Marta Lesniak Named C-USA Athlete of the Month
Her fifth career Athlete of the Month honor

IRVING, Texas (C-USA/SMU) – SMU’s Marta Lesniak was named Conference USA Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Month by the league office, today.
Lesniak, the No. 10-ranked singles player in the country, won the "A" Singles title at the SFA Invitational and finished runner-up in the "A" Doubles flight. In singles, she dropped just three games in her first two matches, winning 6-1, 6-1, then 6-1, 6-0. Lesniak then defeated her SMU teammate, Edyta Cieplucha, in the final 6-3, 5-7, 10-2. In doubles, Lesniak and Cieplucha partnered to finish runner-up. The duo won 8-1 and 8-5 to advance to the championship. In the final, it was the top pair from the host SFA that knocked off the SMU squad 8-5. This is Lesniak’s fifth—and fourth consecutive—Athlete of the Month honor of her career.
The Mustangs continue the fall action at All-American Tournament in Los Angeles, Calif., on Oct. 6.
