Oct. 5, 2011

OVERLAND PARK, Kansas (SMU) - SMU defender Adam Still is one of 10 men's soccer finalists for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, a national honor based on excellence in community, classroom, character and competition. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to determine the winner. Fans are encouraged to vote once per day per computer for Still. The fan vote will be combined with media and Division I head coaches' votes to determine the winner.

"This is a great honor," Still said. "I am proud to represent my teammates, coaches, teachers and family members who have supported me. I am truly thankful to have such great people in my life."

Still is captain of the 2011 Mustangs and has played every minute (825) for SMU this season, tallying an assist. The defender helped lead the Mustangs to a 16-2-2 record and an NCAA Elite Eight appearance in 2010. Still started all 20 games for the Mustangs and played 1808 of a possible 1880 minutes on the season. He scored his first career goal on a 75-yard shot against No. 17 Tulsa on Oct. 20, helping SMU to a 3-2 win.

Still currently holds a 3.907 GPA and is set to graduate in May 2012 with a degree in accounting. In 2010, Still was named to the CoSIDA ESPN Academic All-America Third Team. Still is a two-time Academic All-America District VI Team award recipient. He has also been named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team, and is a three-time C-USA Academic Medalist and three-time C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll member.

"I don't think there is anyone more deserving for consideration for this award than Adam Still," head coach Tim McClements said. "Adam is a model student-athlete and has been an integral part of our team for four years. He has excelled in the classroom and is incredibly respected in the community, and he's been that way since day one. We truly hope he is selected for the award."

The finalists were chosen by a media committee from the list of 30 men's candidates announced in August. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence - community, classroom, character and competition.

Voting ends Nov. 14. Lowe's will announce the Senior CLASS Award® winner during the 2011 NCAA Men's College Cup championships, Dec. 9 and 11, in Hoover, Ala.

Come on, people. Adam Still is leading in the fan voting, but the guy from Winthrop — WINTHROP? — is catching up.

You need to vote EVERY DAY for Adam from as many computers as you can. Let's push him through.
