After establishing himself as the premier defensive player in Conference USA (winning Defensive MVP honors in the regular season and in the C-USA Tournament), SMU defender Diogo de Almeida took the next stop in his soccer career when he was chosen 24th overall by Real Salt Lake in the 2012 Major League Soccer SuperDraft.
