SMU Men's Lacrosse is 4-0 on the young season with a 13-9 win over Oklahoma on parents weekend.

Congrats Ponies. Good luck in Cali on spring break.

I care. Go LAX. At least the club sports give something fun to watch during the Spring since varsity doesn't deliver sh*t.

Fortunately, your ignorance is not shared by those who love this sport, which is growing dramatically across the US, whether the East Coast or Texas. 8)

As sports go, lacrosse is certainly not horrible to watch and the players are actual athletes (unlike some "sports" which shall remain nameless). Regardless of my feelings for lacrosse, it is not an official SMU sport. As a club sport, very few people care about their results. Frankly, club sports are not much more than glorified intramural teams.

When it becomes an official sport, I might care.

Only three BCS schools have been able to add lacrosse since the 80s thanks to title ix. At the high school level the sport has grown 1000% in the last ten years. But only a handful of programs have been able to add lacrosse as a varsity program.

The Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association offers a virtual varsity experience to fill the void left by title ix.

The team just returned from Southern California to play three games in three days. We went 1-2 on the trip but played three extremely competitive games.

I don't know many IM teams that travel across the country to play.

These men pay 2k to play a sport for SMU, wear SMU colors, logos. They practice in Ford Stadium after hours until 10 or 11 at night. They deserve your support, or at the very least, they don't deserve your antagonistic remarks.

Stay classy, dog

SMU Club Sports > 90% of our varsity sports. Equestrian? Rowing? Please, give me LAX, Baseball, and Hockey any day of the week, club level and all. They're great fun to go to, and can use all the support they can get.

Congrats to the Lax teams. Great game that has had good success at SMU. Both the guys and gals wear SMU on their shirts (even paying for the honor), so we support them!

LAX is a staple sport in the Beast. It may only be a club sport now, but SMU must seriously look at making this a varsity sport for both men and women.

That would be fantastic, PP, and would say even more about "Embracing the East". It is a fast growing sport and popular coast to coast. LAX would strengthen SMU's national brand, even if it were a "virtual" varsity sport. Perhaps someday, we would be the first Div. 1 team in Texas and join our fellow BE schools?

UConn also has a women's lax team in the Big East.
