SMU men's soccer starts the 2012 season Friday night at Westcott Field with a start time of 7:30pm. SMU will face the Fighting Camels of Campbell.
SMU is 0-0-2 in exhibition action, with a pair of 1-1 draws against UMKC and Houston Baptist. Goal scorers for SMU have been Tyler Engel and Leobardo Vazquez.
Campbell comes in 1-0-1 in their preseason, with a 1-1 draw at Clemson and a 3-2 home win over Richmond.
This is going to be a fascinating season for the Mustangs. There are a lot of players gone from last season's team, but there is also a ton of new talent around to replace them.
Go Ponies!

The SMU women also play at Westcott against Oral Roberts at 5pm Friday, and SMU is advertising one ticket gets you in to both matches, so come early!

I thought they were the Camels, but their web site says Fighting Camels. So does wiki so it must be true!

1-1 in double OT. It was a very good game!
I don't remember the name of the guy who scored our goal, but it was beautiful -- a long shot that bounced in off the crossbar. What a shot.

Certainly a bit of a bummer to start the season with a home draw, but man some of these freshmen are really good. Once things get settled in I think SMU will be fine.
SMU had some really nice chances, and had the run of play early, but Campbell settled in and played really well.
Don't forget we still haven't had Castillo yet either.
