Young, Bailey Earn C-USA Weekly Honors
SMU takes two of three conference awards

IRVING, Texas (SMU) - Caroline Young was named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, and Olivia Bailey was named C-USA Setter of the Week as the Mustangs won two of the three conference weekly awards after picking up a pair of road wins.

Young recorded a career-high 26 kills in a 3-1 win at UCF and finished the weekend with 5.43 kills per set, leading the league for the week. She hit .449 against the Knights, and also had four blocks. The Brenham, Texas native had 12 kills, three aces and three blocks in a 3-0 victory at Southern Miss to cap off the weekend.

The sophomore climbed to 10th in the conference, averaging a team-high 3.27 kills per set, and she leads the league with 0.39 aces per set, scoring 27 on the season. She is also third on the team with 36 blocks.

Bailey led the league with 12.14 assists per set in the two wins, recording a season-high 53 assists at UCF to eclipse 50 for the second time this season. She also had 11 digs against the Knights for her fifth double-double of the season. The senior transfer is fifth in the league with 9.07 assists per set for the year.

The Mustangs return home to Moody Coliseum to host Tulane Friday at 7 p.m. SMU will face UTEP on Oct. 14, and the annual "Dig Pink" match is scheduled for Oct. 19 against Tulsa.
