Alex Butterworth Named NCEA Most Outstanding Rider For October
Freshman earns honors for equitation over fences

Nov. 19, 2012

DALLAS (SMU) - SMU equestrian freshman Alex Butterworth has been named the National Collegiate Equestrian Association's Most Outstanding Player in hunter seat equitation over fences for the month of October.

Butterworth posted a 2-0 mark over fences in October, earning MVP honors with a 90-88 win against No. 8 TCU. The newcomer also turned in a dominating performance against No. 4 Texas A&M with an 89-75 victory.

The No. 10 Mustangs wrapped up the fall schedule by knocking off No. 1 South Carolina, 5-4, on Sunday. SMU opens the spring schedule on Feb. 16 against No. 7 Baylor at 10 a.m. at BuckBranch Farm.
