Kalu Sets School Record In 60m, Powers Breaks Meet Record In 5000m

Jan. 26, 2013

HOUSTON (SMU) - Stephanie Kalu set a school record in the 60 meter dash at 7.45, freshman Ashlee Powers set a meet record in the 5000 meter run at 17:23.79 as the SMU Mustangs won four events at the Howie Ryan Invitational hosted by Houston.

Mary Alenbratt won the 3000 meter run with a personal best time of 9:42.05. Freshman Karoline Skatteboe finished third, also setting a personal best at 9:49.85. Shanoah Souza (sixth, 9:57.47) and Powers (ninth, 9:59.98) also took top-10's with personal best times. The combo of Skatteboe, Alenbratt, Souza and Isis Wilson took the distance medley title by eight seconds over the field.

Helena Perez set a season best mark in the shot put at 15.29m, giving her a first place finish.

The Mustangs will head to Lubbock, Texas for the Red Raider Invitational on Feb. 2.

OK this was the "fast heat" at Stanford yesterday, but it is not really a fast race.
It says "7 Mary Alenbratt SMU 4:21.17". So using a formula that is like a 4:40.23541 for 1 Mile.

China is the ultimate world power in middle distance. SMU should start recruiting there.
