C-USA Championship Day One Results
HOUSTON, Texas (SMU) - The SMU men's swimming and diving team is currently in first place with a score of 136 at the Conference USA Championships while the women's team is in sixth with a score of 40.
The men touched first in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:27.35. The strong performance in the event was led by Matas Andriekus, Nicolai Hansen, David Larsson, and Ramom Melo.
Sophomore diver Devin Burnett took the top spot in the one-meter dive with a final score of 364.55, with Hayden Hodges finishing third with 287.75 points, and Dan Pitts finishing with a score of 247.30.
In the 800-yard freestyle relay, the team of Nicolai Hansen, Mindaugas Sadauskas, Matt Roney, and Eastman Holloway took top honors touching the wall in 6:26.18. The time did not just earn them the school record, but the meet record as well.
The women's team claimed first place in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a final time of 7:09.28. The team consisted of junior Nina Rangelova, junior Alice McCall, freshmen Danielle Villars, and sophomore Nathalie Lindborg.
The C-USA Championships will continue through Saturday on the University of Houston campus. Results will be available after each day.
