Re: W-Soccer: Official Spring 2013 ScheduleLouisiana Tech should be interesting Saturday - they only gave up 15 goals in 21 games last season while going 12-5-4 (3-4-2 WAC, RPI 159). SMU and La Tech did have one common opponent in 2012 but we have blocked that one from our minds...
The Lady Techsters (don't they know it's 2013?) only graduated two seniors, and of the 26 other players listed on their roster sixteen (sixteen!) were true freshmen this season. All of their top scorers and both keepers who played are back. There is plenty to look for in SMU, most notably seeing the progress of CP having time to work with the team. Additionally, there are three open starting spots from last season and the continuing battle in goal. Anyway, it should be fun - and it sounds like it will be good soccer weather as well. Go Ponies! Re: W-Soccer: Official Spring 2013 Schedule
Awesome, thanks. It's great to see Courtney Smith was able to play, and was obviously productive. An object at rest cannot be stopped!

Shelby Redman x 2, Olivia Elliott x 2, Lissi Lonsberry. Shake It Off Moody
Re: W-Soccer: Official Spring 2013 Schedule
Great! It sounds like the offense came to play. How did Courtney Smith look? An object at rest cannot be stopped!
Re: W-Soccer: Official Spring 2013 Schedule
Honestly, the whole team looked a lot better than they did against La Tech. Lots of good motion on offense and dynamic positive passing, etc. If I remember correctly, Courtney played the full 90 - which was certainly a big step in her rehab from the foot surgery. She definitely had at least one assist. The Lonsberry goal was a nice strong header directly from a Smith corner. With all of the goals I kind of lost track of the assists, but the whole team played a good, solid game. Shake It Off Moody
Re: W-Soccer: Official Spring 2013 ScheduleThe Mustangs head north to Stillwater this Sunday for a 3pm spring game against Oklahoma State.
The Cowgirls are coming off what was certainly a disappointing 2012 season. After making six straight NCAA tournaments from 2006-11 (including back-to-back Elite Eight appearances in 2010 and 2011), OSU was 11-6-3 (2-4-3 Big 12) last season with a final RPI ranking of 76 (SMU was 63). Obviously, it will still be a good spring test for the Mustangs to face what is one of the better programs in the country. The Cowgirls did lose five seniors, including First Team All-American keeper Adrianna Franch, who is currently in camp with the U.S. National Team for the matches in Europe against Germany and Holland this week. They also lost their top scorer, although their second and third leading scorers from 2012 were both freshmen. The weather forecast looks pretty decent, with a projected high of 71 and a 30% chance of showers - which will definitely make SMU's spring journey to Stillwater this year less eventful than last year's trip, when they moved the game time up a few hours and were dodging a massive storm outbreak in the region. Hopefully, we will get some news on how this game goes. Go Ponies! Shake It Off Moody

Re: W-Soccer: Official Spring 2013 ScheduleSMU hosts Baylor Sunday evening at Westcott with a 7pm start time.
As we all remember, Baylor defeated SMU 2-1 during the 2012 regular season in heartbreaking fashion with a double overtime goal in the 108th minute. Baylor proceeded to advance to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament where they were eliminated by eventual national champion North Carolina in penalties. Baylor is 2-0-1 so far this spring, with home wins over Oklahoma and North Texas and a road draw at Texas A&M. SMU is 2-1-0. Baylor did lose a good chunk of their scoring, but I'm sure they are even more worried this spring learning in-game management now that they are going with the unconventional co-head coach system. ![]() It's just a spring game, of course, but Baylor plays a tough, physical brand of soccer - which SMU will certainly be ready for having just faced them last September. Go Ponies! Shake It Off Moody
Re: W-Soccer: Official Spring 2013 ScheduleSMU defeated Baylor 2-1 in a wild one.
Goals on an own goal and a PK (Redman). Tons of fouls, a few yellows (probably should have been more). Just crazy. Good, tough win for the Mustangs though! Shake It Off Moody
Re: W-Soccer: Official Spring 2013 Schedule
NICE! SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: W-Soccer: Official Spring 2013 ScheduleSMU closes out the spring with a game against North Texas at Westcott Saturday at 4pm.
The Mustangs are 3-1-0 so far this spring, and one can only hope Saturday's game is half as exciting as Sunday evening's game against Baylor (for a spring game, at least). Anyway, it should be great weather for soccer. Hopefully, SMU can finish off the spring on a high note. Go Ponies! Shake It Off Moody
Re: W-Soccer: Official Spring 2013 ScheduleNorth Texas scored on a deflected goal and won 1-0.
