SMU's men's soccer team has landed its third transfer of the year with the arrival of forward Alfred Koroma, according to a source familiar with the team who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

A veteran of the U.S. Under-17 National Team, Koroma, who lives in Southlake, Texas, spent his first college season at the University of Akron, where he registered eight points (three goals, two assists) for a Zips team that went 18-1-3 in 2012.

"The future of US Soccer"?

Has SMU ever gotten a transfer in any sport who has that kind of hype?

Congratulations to the Mustangs and the coaches! This has turned out to be an incredibly exciting offseason.

Maybe this news is why they have been waiting on releasing anything about the 2013 class?

When will he be eligible to play? Immediately (perhaps he didn't play last season) or does he have to wait a year?

He should be able to play this year. I'm not sure of the rules, but I believe in soccer you don't have to sit out a year as long as you transfer out of conference - or maybe the coaches are willing to give players releases as long as they are not staying in conference.

Derschang played for them last year so they better let Koroma play for us if there is a release involved! :)

Imentioned this possible transfer several weeks ago. I understand it was between us and Creighton.
He should immediately be able to play.

Sure sounds that way. I'm looking forward to seeing him (and all of the Ponies) play this year.

Anyone know when preseason rankings come out? We should be in the top 20 (top 10?), shouldn't we?
