Still hard to think about yesterday, but on the bright side Shelby Redman did make the Week 1 AAC women's soccer honor roll.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Four American Athletic Conference players were honored with the conference's first women's soccer weekly awards for the 2013 season on Monday. All 10 American teams opened the season over the weekend, competing in two games apiece. Louisville senior Charlyn Corral has been named Offensive Player of the Week and UCF junior Carleigh Williams was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Week. USF sophomore Christiane Endler earned Goalkeeper of the Week honors, and Memphis freshman Maryse Bard-Martel has been named American Rookie of the Week.

Corral had a stellar weekend for Louisville, scoring three goals and one assist in two games for seven points. The Cardinals opened the season with a 2-0 shutout of Butler on Aug. 23, in which Corral played a part in both goals, scoring the second goal and assisting on the first. She scored twice in Louisville's 4-5 OT loss to No. 25 Illinois on Aug. 25, once on a deflection and again on a penalty kick. Corral's three goals on seven shots on goal earned her an impressive .538 shot percentage for the weekend.

UCF's Williams led the No. 21 Knights to a title at the No Ka Oi Tournament, hosted by the University of Hawaii. Williams played all 180 minutes of UCF's two shutouts, the first a 3-0 win over Washington on Aug. 23 and the second a 4-0 victory over Hawaii on Aug. 25. The UCF defense held Washington to only five shots and Hawaii to 10, and Williams was named to the All-Tournament Team for her efforts.

Endler earned Goalkeeper of the Week honors after playing every minute in the Bulls' 1-1, 2 OT draw at Texas on Aug. 25. She totaled eight saves on the game, including three in the second period and three more in the first overtime. The Bulls finished the weekend 1-0-1 after defeating Arkansas-Pine Bluff 7-0 in Tampa on Aug. 23.

Bard-Martel helped Memphis to a 2-0-0 weekend. She played every minute in her first two collegiate games, notching one save against Samford on Aug. 23, which Memphis won 2-0, and five saves on Aug. 25 in a 2-1 OT victory over Missouri.

Honor Roll
Tatiana Coleman, UCF, F, Jr.
Coleman was named the No Ka Oi Tournament MVP on Aug. 25 after scoring two goals in the Knights' 3-0 win over Washington and one assist in the 2-0 championship win over Hawaii.
Sara Corson, Rutgers, F, Jr.
In only 22 minutes against Army, Corson scored two of Rutgers' three goals and assisted on the third for a total five points on the game. The points were Corson's first in her career as a Scarlet Knight.
Lianne Maldonado, UCF, GK, R-Sr.
Maldonado led UCF through their 2-0-0 opening weekend at the No Ka Oi Tournament in Hawaii, notching three saves against Washington and four over Hawaii.
Shelby Redman, SMU, F, Jr.
Redman scored three goals for the Mustangs, two in a 6-1 victory over Louisiana-Monroe and one in a double overtime loss to Arkansas, totaling six points on the weekend.

Madison Tiernan, Rutgers, M, Fr.
Tiernan put in the game-winning goal for Rutgers in their 1-0 victory over Drexel on Aug. 23, and assisted on another goal in the Scarlet Knights' 3-2 win over Army on Sunday.

Quick Kicks
American teams went 12-7-1 in the opening week of the season. Eight of 10 posted at least one win, and four went 2-0 through two games.
