It's that time of the year again - the Tulsa and SMU tournaments!
I was wondering if SMU and Tulsa would play each other at one of the tournaments since this will be the one year we are not in the same conference, but the SMU-Tulsa rivalry will be put on hold for one season.
This weekend SMU will be in Tulsa for the Tulsa Golden Hurricane Classic.
The Mustangs face SIU-Edwardsville at 5pm Friday and Ohio State at noon Sunday. SMU is off to a 0-2-0 start, although both games were 2-1 losses to top ten teams.

Ohio State is 1-2-0 this season after getting drilled 4-1 by Tulsa Friday.
SMU kind of needs this one...

SMU dominated shots (10-2), shots on goal (6-1) and corners (8-2), but couldn't find the back of the net.

Fire the coach. 0-4-0 with a loss to SIU-E ("Where the E Stands for Excellence" - all STL-area PonyFans will know what I am talking about) is unacceptable. I'm OK with losing to IU and ND, but SIU-E? And then losing to an OSU team that was destroyed by Tulsa?

John Lujano and Jaime Ibarra both made the all-tournament team.
That's two tournaments and two all-tournament teams for Jaime.
I hope he makes it three next weekend at our tournament!

SMU release on the Ohio State game, with some quotes from Tim:
http://www.smumustangs.com/sports/m-soccer/recaps/090813aaa.htmlTo some extent, I definitely agree with the quotes. We have only given up six goals in four games to some pretty good teams.
On the other hand, only scoring two goals in those four goals is a bit troubling. Hopefully that changes soon.

I agree that the goals will come. If Koroma is as good as advertised, and Castillo is totally healthy after limping through his recovery last year, they could be a potent duo once they get used to each other. This might be one of those deals where the goals come in bunches once they start.

Not a good start to the season. I was expecting better. Goals have to start coming for this team or its going to be a long long year.

Sigh. I remember the days with Hyndman when SMU was nationally ranked and pretty much a lock for the tournament. The first 2 games this season were very tough, but it seems that instead of coming back and getting the next 2 wins, the team became deflated.
