Sept. 16, 2013
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (SMU) - SMU volleyball head coach Lisa Seifert has been elected as President of the American Athletic Conference Volleyball Coaches' Association, as voted by the league's coaches, and was also appointed by league officials to serve on the Regional Advisory Committee.
"I'm honored to have been elected by my peers," Seifert said. "This is an important role, and one I don't take lightly. I will do my best to make sure our league and our student-athletes are well represented."
The Regional Advisory Committee assists the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Committee in the evaluation of teams throughout the season, and provides input regarding the officials nominated to work the championship.
Seifert, who has been the head coach of the Mustangs since the program's inception in 1996, has spent the last six years serving on the NCAA Midwest Awards Committee. During the last three years, Seifert was the chair of the committee, earning a seat on the All-America Committee.
The veteran coach has amassed nearly 300 wins during her career, including a school-record 25 during the 2010 season. This year, the Mustangs are 6-4 on the season, SMU's first in the American Athletic Conference.
