Nembhard Named Conference Rookie Of The Week
Freshman Deshawon Nembhard Registered Two Assists In The Win Over Hartwick

DALLAS (SMU) - Freshman SMU men's soccer student-athlete Deshawon Nembhard was named the American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week, league officials announced on Monday.

The Dallas native recorded his first two collegiate assists in the Mustangs' 2-1 victory over Hartwick in the Jason's Deli SMU Invitational. Nembhard assisted on goals from junior Andrew Morales and sophomore Alfred Koroma. He has played in six matches for SMU, including two as a starter.

SMU went 1-1 last weekend in the invitational. Following the victory over Hartwick, SMU dropped a 1-0 match to UMKC.

Koroma was also named to the league's honor roll for his efforts.

Nembhard and the Mustangs are back in action on Friday when they take on Rutgers in Piscataway, N.J., for their first American match. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. CT.
