Mustangs Remain Fourth In Latest USTFCCCA South Central Region Poll
SMU Won the North Texas Ken Garland Invitational on Saturday

NEW ORLEANS, La. (USTFCCCA) -- The SMU women's cross country team remains ranked fourth in the latest US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) South Central Region poll. The team comes off back-to-back first place finishes at the North Texas Ken Garland Invitational on Saturday and the UTA Gerald Richey Invite on Sept. 14.
The Mustangs have been led by performances from the team’s youth as two freshmen and two sophomores earned places second through fifth at North Texas. The group included freshmen Tova Magnusson and Agnes Sjöström finishing second and fifth and sophomores Shanoah Souza and Holly Archer earning third and fourth place.
In addition, sophomore Melanie Stemper and Souza placed first and second at UTA, as they paced SMU to winning first place honors. The Mustangs lone senior Caitlin Keen has provided leadership for the team as well as great finishes in each of the three meets. Her best finish came two weeks ago at UTA where she placed sixth.
Rounding out the top three in the South Central Region, just ahead of SMU is Arkansas, Texas and Texas A&M.
The Mustangs are back in action at the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind. on Friday, Oct. 4 at 4 p.m.
