Mustangs Fall To Louisville, 4-2
Smith Scores Twice In Defeat

Oct. 3, 2013

DALLAS (SMU) - Senior Courtney Smith scored twice on free kicks, but it was not enough as SMU fell to Louisville 4-2 at Westcott Field on Thursday night.

SMU is now 6-5-0 (1-2-0) on the season, while Louisville remained perfect in league play, improving to 7-3-1 (3-0-0).

Smith got SMU on the board promptly, nailing a 28-yard free kick home in the sixth minute. SMU controlled possession for a good portion of the half, but Louisville got the better of its chances, piling home three goals by halftime.

Louisville added a fourth goal in the 56th minute, with Charlyn Corral getting her second of the night. Erin Yenney and Katie Walz were the other goal scorers for the Cardinals.

Smith would get her second in the 81st minute, putting her free kick just underneath the crossbar and away from the outstretched arms of Cardinals keeper Paige Brown. The night marked Smith's first-career two-goal game.

SMU is now 9-2-2 at Westcott Field since Chris Petrucelli took over head coaching duties before the 2012 season.

The Mustangs will have the opportunity to rebound against Cincinnati on Sunday at 1 p.m. Tickets are available atwww.smutickets.com.

Finally got around to watching the Petrucelli interview. I have to agree, we played Louisville really well last night but they were able to pull off a few ridiculously good shots on us.

We are so close...
