Senior Defender Tallied Five Points Against League Foes

DALLAS (SMU) - SMU defender Courtney Smith was named to the National Team of the Week by TopDrawerSoccer.com on Tuesday after her strong performances against Louisville and Cincinnati this past week.
Smith scored twice on set pieces against Louisville on Thursday, notching the first multi-goal game of her career. The senior playmaker then recorded an assist during SMU's 2-1 victory over Cincinnati on Sunday.
The Plano, Texas, native now has nine assists on the season, which leads the American Athletic Conference and is the sixth-highest total in the nation. She's posted 0.75 assists per match, good for fifth in the NCAA. Smith's 15 total points ranks her ninth in the league.
Smith is also rising the all-time assists list at SMU, and is currently tied for sixth with Olivia O'Rear with 26 career helpers.
The left back has been a crucial part of an SMU attack that is ranked third in the American and 35th nationally in scoring offense.
SMU will hit the road to face Memphis on Thursday at 7 p.m., followed by a trip to the east coast for a meeting with Rutgers at noon on Sunday.
