Volleyball: SMU vs. Houston

The Mustangs host Houston Friday night in an American match at the Dedman Center.
SMU (13-8, 5-3) and the Cougars (13-10, 5-3) will both hit the midway point of conference season in this match.
A quick glance at the current American standings emphasizes how huge this match is:

SMU wins the second set 25-21 to take a 2-0 lead!
Caroline Young leading the way with 7 kills so far. Cailin Bula and Abbey Bybel each with 5 kills.

Houston wins the third set 25-14. SMU hits .000 in the set.
SMU still leads 2-1.

SMU bounces back with a huge fourth set and wins 3-1 (26-24, 25-21, 14-25, 25-13)!!!!!!

Cailin Bula with 10 kills. Caroline Young and Abbey Bybel each with 9. Janelle Giordano also had 7.
Avery Acker with 34 assists. Morgan Heise with 18 digs.
Tonight is a big win for the Mustangs!

Action around The American is complete tonight:
1. Louisville (8-0)
2. Temple (6-2)
2. USF (6-2)
4. SMU (6-3)
5. UCF (5-3)
6. Houston (5-4)
7. Memphis (3-5)
8. UConn (2-6)
9. Cincinnati (0-8)
9. Rutgers (0-8)
SMU and Houston are both at the halfway mark of the conference season and are off Sunday.
The remainder of the conference is in action Sunday - with all eyes on the Cincinnati at Rutgers match.
Temple is at USF, so SMU will finish the first half of the season in a tie for third.
