No. 10 SMU hosts No. 3 Auburn at BuckBranch Farm in Wilmer Saturday at 10am. This meet will be the final event for the Mustangs in the fall season.

SMU is 3-5 this season, and has been surprisingly strong in the first year of fielding a combined Hunter Seat and Western team.

Auburn is 3-1, and is coming off a win over then No. 1 Georgia last weekend. The Tigers face new No. 1 Baylor in Waco Friday.

The Mustangs are 3-0 at home, and don't forget last year SMU defeated South Carolina in the final fall event of the season when the Gamecocks were ranked No. 1.

Go Mustangs!

Definitely a tough day for the Mustangs. Auburn is so strong and deep and facing them when they are on a roll like this is a tough test for any team. SMU falls to 3-6 on the season.

After starting off down 5-0 after our strongest discipline the work was pretty much cut out for SMU today.

Still, the fall was so exciting. The Hunter Seat program appears to be as strong as ever, and the Western team has done remarkably well in its first season.

SMU is back in action to start the spring season February 15 at New Mexico State.

Go Mustangs!

Even though the overall result was disappointing for the Mustangs today, Charlotte Jacobs was named MOP on the flat and Courtney Line was named MOP in reining!

Congratulations to Charlotte and Courtney!

SMU release:

http://www.smumustangs.com/sports/w-equest/recaps/112313aaa.html

"Auburn is a top team, and they are ranked as a top team for a reason. I thought they showed that today," head coach Natalie Burton said. "We had a rough day out there today. I thought we didn't ride that great over fences, a bunch of one or two-point differences that we could have won if we were just a little more on our game. It just goes to show how a young team, like we have, just needs to mature a little bit more to handle the adversity, like the weather, the end of the semester or whatever it may be. We'll get there."
