Klein Finishes Fifth In Synchronized 3-Meter Dive At US Diving National Finals

AUSTIN, Texas (SMU) – Freshman diver Bryce Klein and Texas graduate student and former Stanford Dwight Dumais finished 5th (365.73) in the synchronized 3-meter dive on day four of the U.S. Diving National Finals in Austin, Texas. The duo will be back in action this Sunday as they qualified for the finals of this event for finishing in the top 12.
“Bryce really stepped up and competed well today,†head diving coach Jim Stillson said. “He going to need a great performance on Sunday, but he is capable and I am excited to see him compete.â€
On day one of the Finals, Klein placed 11th in the 1-meter dive with a score of 320.10 which was just 2.25 points behind USC sophomore Collin Pollard who placed 10th to earn himself a spot in the finals.
Two weeks ago at the Texas A&M Invitational, Klein placed seventh in the 1-meter dive (310.
and ninth in the 3-meter (322.

Prior to his arrival on the Hilltop, Klein was a four-time high school All-America selection and was a USA Diving Junior National Champion in the three-meter dive in 2012. In addition, he was a finalist at the 2012 Olympic trials, finished sixth in the 1-meter dive at the FINA World Junior Diving Championships among many other accolades.
