Equestrian: SMU vs. TCU

SMU hosts No. 8 TCU Saturday at Sleepy P Ranch in Bartonsville to close out the regular season. Proceedings are scheduled to start at 10am.

The Mustangs (3-9) will be hoping to end the season on a high note after dropping two contests on the road last week. The Horned Frogs (6-4) are looking for their first road win of the season.

Fences: Alex Butterworth, Schaefer Raposa, Julie Fischer, Emma Roberts, Sylvia de Toledo

Horsemanship: Morgan Redwine, Courtney Line, Kristen Schramm, Jaclyn White, Hannah McCain
Reining: Kristen Schramm, Hannah McCain, Morgan Redwine, Courtney Line, Jaclyn White

Flat and horsemanship are up first.

Great start today as SMU takes the flat 4-1!

TCU takes horsemanship 3-2.

SMU points from Redwine and White.

Jaclyn White with a huge ride taking her point 74-73 with the 73 already posted and TCU on a run of two straight points.

SMU is up 6-4 overall through the flat and horsemanship.

Fences are up next.

Emma Roberts could be in for a double-MOP day in hunt seat.

SMU leads 9-6 overall with the second round of reining remaining.

Emma Roberts was MOP on the flat, Sylvia de Toledo was MOP over fences, and Jaclyn White was MOP in horsemanship.

How many colleges actually compete in this sport? How can you be in the top 10 with a 4 and 9 record?

This season there are 18 D-I equestrian programs - so yeah, being in the top ten is a bit of window dressing.

But, you look at a team like A&M who have some of the nicest facilities in the country and they are 2-8 and unranked so it's still nice for SMU to be recognized.

It's also quite an accomplishment this year in the first season of fielding a Western team - who have been extremely competitive.
