Kalu Earns USTFCCCA Second-Team All-America Honors
Junior Placed Ninth In The 60-Meter Dash At The NCAA Indoor Championships

NEW ORLEANS (USTFCCCA/SMU) - SMU junior sprinter Stephanie Kalu was named a USTFCCCA second-team All-America selection following her ninth place (7.31 seconds) finish in the NCAA Indoor Championships in the 60-meter dash. Kalu qualified for the Championships in the prelims of the American Athletic Conference Championships with a time of 7.28 seconds. At The American Championships, she earned SMU's second individual title when she placed first in the 60-meter dash finals in 7.31 seconds.
This winter, Kalu also earned two AAC Athlete of the Week awards in consecutive weeks with the second coming on Feb. 4. She earned the honors following her outstanding performances at the Vanderbilt Indoor Invitational and the Masked Rider Invitational in Lubbock, Texas.
Last spring as a sophomore, Kalu set the 100-meter dash record at SMU with a mark of 11.38 seconds and earned honorable mention All-America honors in the event as she placed 22nd on day one of the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Following her outstanding 2013 spring season, Kalu was invited to compete in the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Track & Field World Championships in Moscow last August where she ran in the 100 and on the 4x100-meter relay team for Nigeria.
