SMU: Track athlete Hannah Moss found dead in off-campus apartment Tuesday

SMU track athlete Hannah Catherine Moss was found dead in her off-campus Dallas apartment Tuesday, according to a statement from SMU spokesman Kent Best.

The cause of her death hasn't been determined, and foul play isn't suspected, the statement says.
The police report says Moss was found at The BLVD, an apartment complex near campus in the 5600 block of SMU Boulevard, according to a FOX 4 report.

SMU vice president for student affairs Lori S. White and associate vice president for student affairs Joanne Vogel emailed students Wednesday, informing them of Moss' death.

Moss, 20, competed in sprint events on the track and field team, according to her bio on SMU's athletics website.

On Feb. 28, Moss, a sophomore communications major from Austin, and her teammates placed third in the women's distance relay event at the American Athletic Conference indoor track and field championships in New York City.

SMU track athlete died from heart problem, according to Dallas County Medical Examiner’s office

Southern Methodist University student-athlete Hannah Moss died from natural causes in March, according to the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s office. Her cause of death was cardiac arrhythmia, or irregular heartbeat.

Moss, 20, a track athlete from Austin, was found dead in her off-campus Dallas apartment on March 18, according to a statement from SMU spokesman Kent Best. She was a sophomore communications major at SMU. University officials emailed students in March, telling them of Moss’ death.

Moss competed in sprint events for SMU’s track and field team. In February, she and her teammates placed third in the women’s distance relay event at the American Athletic Conference indoor track and field championships in New York City.
