SMU Is Back In Action Tomorrow For Day Two Of The Invite

FORT WORTH, Texas (SMU) – SMU junior Rayann Chin placed third (48.75 meters) in the discus and fourth (47.24 meters) in the hammer throw on the first day of the TCU Horned Frog Invitational at the Lowdon Track and Field Complex in Fort Worth, Texas. The TCU Invite is the first outdoor meet of the season for the Mustangs.

Chin recently was named the 2014 American Athletic Conference Most Outstanding Indoor Field Athlete following her outstanding performance at inaugural American Indoor Championship in New York. The junior won the shot put and placed third in the weight throw to garner the honor.

In addition to Chin, senior Helena Perez led SMU in the hammer throw as she finished third with a mark of 54.91 meters. In the discus, freshman Tochi Nlemchi placed sixth with a distance of 44.68 meters while Perez finished 10th with a mark of 40.70.

SMU is back in action Friday for day two of the Invite.
