The No. 52/52 SMU women’s golf team was selected to the 2014 NCAA Central Regional in Stillwater, Okla., the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Selection Committee announced on Monday. The three-day 54-hole Stillwater Regional will start on May 8 and be played at Karsten Creek Golf Club.

“We’re excited to qualify for NCAA’s for the second-straight year,” head coach Jeanne Sutherland said. “The next step is to make it to the Championships. You always want to get better as the season progresses, and I think that we are peaking at the right time of year. We’ll have a good week of practice this week, and we look forward to competing next week.”

The lowest final score from the 12 teams who played this morning so far is Cal who finished at +7.

About half way through the first nine today in round 1, SMU is T6 at +5.

Cal still the leader in the clubhouse at +7 (which is currently T10).

All SMU golfers have completed nine holes in round 1 (SMU played the back nine first today).

The Mustangs are T13 at +12.

Alabama and Cal are in the clubhouse at +7.

SMU has slipped to +16 and T15 - need to finish strong today!

Closing in on the end of round 1. SMU is +17 and T14.

For reference, eighth place is currently +11.

Alabama and Cal still the lowest posted scores at +7.
