Dechambeau Receives PING All-Region Honors
Sophomore is the 10th-Ranked Amateur in the World

NORMAN, Okla. (SMU/GCAA) - SMU sophomore Bryson Dechambeau added another honor to his collection as the Golf Coaches Association of America announced its all-region recipients on Thursday. Dechambeau was named to the All-Central region team for the second straight year.
Dechambeau won the American Athletic Conference championship and has seven top-five finishes this season. The Clovis, Calif., native was also a Ben Hogan Award semifinalist and was selected to represent the United States at the 2014 Palmer Cup at the Walton Heath Golf Club in Surrey, England, in June.
Dechambeau is currently ranked 10th in the world according to the World Amateur Golf Ranking, and is ranked in the top 25 in the GolfWeek/Sagarin rankings (13th), Scratch Players World Amateur Ranking (14th) and the GolfStat rankings (23rd). The all-conference honoree took seventh at the NCAA San Antonio Regional, leading the Mustangs to their first NCAA Championship appearance since 2005.
Heading into the NCAA Championship, Dechambeau has posted 20 rounds of par or better over 12 tournaments, and ranks eighth in the country in final round scoring average (69.83).
SMU will tee off as the 24th seed at the NCAA Championship at 7:50 a.m. on Friday, grouped with Oregon and South Carolina. The six-day event is hosted by Wichita State at the Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.
