Track/Field: NCAA Outdoor Championships

The NCAA Outdoor Track And Field Championships are this week in Eugene, Oregon. Events run Wednesday through Saturday.

SMU will be represented by Lucija Cvitanovic in the heptathlon and Tova Magnusson in the 3000m steeplechase.

The first four heptathlon events are Thursday with the remaining three Friday.

The 3000m steeplechase semifinal is Wednesday and the final is Friday.

The first heat of the 3000m steeplechase is underway. Tova Magnusson will be in the second heat.

Also of note, Magnusson is one of only two freshmen in the event.

Tova Magnusson runs a 10:07.98 and qualifies for the 3000-meter steeplechase finals!!!

Thursday heptathlon schedule for Lucija Cvitanovic:

(Texas time)

3:00pm - 100-meter Hurdles
4:00pm - High Jump
6:30pm - Shot Put
8:05pm - 200-meter dash

Cvitanovic finished 23rd in the 100m hurdles.

High jump is next.

Cvitanovic finished 11th in the high jump and is 17th overall after two events.

The shot put is the next event.

Lucija finished 16th in the shot put and is now 21st overall after three events.

The 200 meter dash will be the fourth event and final event today.

Lucija finished 23rd in the 200 meter dash and is 22nd overall after the first four events.

Also, Tova Magnusson will be in the final of the 3000-meter at 7:35pm.

Cvitanovic is up to 18th overall after six events with the 800 meter run remaining this evening.
